Tips for Weight Readings
Below are tips for using a scale. This will help you measure your weight accurately and consistently.
If your provider has given you other instructions on measuring your weight, please make sure you follow them.
- Keep the scale on a hard, flat surface. Do not place the scale on carpeted or uneven surfaces.
- Before stepping onto the scale, take off shoes and heavy items. Wear as little clothing as possible. And wear the same type of clothes, if any, each time you weigh yourself.
- When standing on the scale, make sure your weight is evenly distributed on both feet and you stay still on the scale.
- Weigh yourself around the same time of day. This improves the consistency of your readings. Experts recommend weighing yourself in the morning before eating or exercising.
